Proud to be a Colorado Rockie

Heltonblog_2We played the best we could in the World Series, but there's no way around the fact that the Red Sox played great, so we lost.

When Jonathan Papelbon struck out Seth Smith to end the game, then threw his glove in the air to begin the celebration, I stayed around to watch it for a second. It's tough to watch. It's tough to be on the other side of the fence. We made a lot of teams feel like we feel right now. But you need to be a gracious winner and a gracious loser.

Tonight, I am proud to be one of the Colorado Rockies. I'm proud to be a big league baseball player, just to be here. I wanted to win the World Series. But this was a good experience.

The fans have been great. They've really come out and supported us. They were proud of the great moments of this season, just like we were.

People ask me if I can think about next season, about going to Tucson, Ariz., for Spring Training and preparing for 2008. But that's the last thing I want to think about right now.

I just want to go home and be a dad right now.

Todd WE LOVE YOU!!!!

see you in Tucson buddy!! ill be there to cheer you guys on!!!

Todd,

Thanks for the great season and the many memories for my family this year. My kids have heroes that they can look up to (besides me) that are such great guys on and off the field.

See you in '08

Dave

It's tough to see the Rockies lose the series, because they played tough through the end of the regular season and the entire post-season. However, it seems KARMA may have gotten the best of them, because of the way the ownership group screwed the fans with the 'internet only' sale of World Series tickets. Thanks alot Linda Alvarado, Peter Coors, Lee Larson, Marne Obernauer Sr., & Marne Obernauer Jr.

Todd, it has been great to watch every game and see that you guys never gave up! My 9 year old son thinks you guys are the best and can't stop talking about you. Go have fun with the family!!! Go Rockies!!!!!!!!

I hope you know how proud us Rockies fan are to have a player like yourself and team like the Rockies to represent Colorado and the city of Denver. What we all have shared these past couple of months is incredible and I'll never forget it. Maybe nobody outside of Denver will ever understand it but thats ok because we know the team feels it. Its hard not to look forward to next year and already get excited about the 2008 Rockies because I know it will be another great season and I can't wait to support all of you. Its going to be fun to be known as the National League Champs all year long. Take care and please know that this season will forever be in the proud hearts of all the Rockies fans.

Todd, as a fan, all the nervousness that goes into watching are starting to fade away, and as I find a couple of minutes to think about the ride it is pretty amazing. You guys made it fun, you made it great to be a fan. You play the game the way that it is supposed to be played and you show that in everything you do. I am proud to be a Rockies fan, and I am proud to be a Todd Helton fan. Enjoy the time with your family, thanks for the leadership, and thanks for the ride. There is a ton to be proud of. You guys are NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!! You brought a pennant to Denver! That is amazing! We will miss you for a few months.

I've been watching the Rockies since they came to Denver. I was at Coors Field when you played your first game there. Watching the team this season was probably the most fun I've ever had. I'll be looking forward to next season. And I'll still be hanging on every swing of the bat and on every pitch.

GO ROCKIES!!!!!!!!

I'm a Red Sox fan, Todd and that means a lot to me. It takes a lot to act as professionally as you are. Thank you. Great season of baseball.

Good luck next year, Todd. If my Cardinals can't make it to the dance, I'll be cheering for you to get the ring that you so rightfully deserve. It was a fun run at the end of the season, and gave the entire Midwest something to be proud of. Thanks from all of us in Cardinal Nation.

Hi Todd-
Thanks for the greatest moments in my life! As you said, "I can't explain it".

The memories from this season is something I will never forget. The walkoff homerun against Saito still gives me

goose bumps...but the 10+ at bat pitches from Dice-K last night was also truely very special. I saw you play in Tuscon in March, all the way until the last pitch tonight. I have to be the luckiest person in the world! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching your team play this year.Hope you,Chrisy,Tierney, your mom and dad, and brother are all doing ok...and hope you get some hunting in soon.

thank you so much!

dennis

season ticket holder since 93.

and looking forward to next year!

I am a Red Sox fan but there's one thing I love even more than my team and that's baseball. I really enjoyed getting to watch Todd Helton play throughout the playoffs and series.
I just love the fact that he gets so many walks on top of all the power, average, and d. I'm 52 but he makes me feel like a little kid when I opened a fresh pack of bubble gum cards and there were the heroes. And it didn't matter what team they played for, they were all Gods. Helton still brings that out in this fan.

That whiplash swing, the way he gets such a good long look at the ball before he strikes like a cobra, he really is a unique and fine hitter.

Hope he hits 300 till he's 44. If he played in New York he'd be a household name in every town in America. Glad he got some spotlight.

Rockies run of 21 of 22 would have been amazing if they did it in the middle of the season against the weakest teams. Congratulations on an exiting season.

Mike Donovan, Boston

sorry about the typo,
I meant Christy.

But I also forgot to thank you

for your blog. It's been enjoyable reading it and thank you for all your efforts doing it.

Todd,
All I can say is WOW...what a season! I sort of feel like I was cheating on my own Dodgers this year by pulling for you guys so much...I did pick the Rox to go to the playoffs at the beginning of the season, and felt you guys were better than the Dodgers. I can't remember when I had a better time at a game than when I was at the clincher against the D-Backs. I mainly wanted the Rox to get to the post season so EVERYBODY could see what a great team you had, and start taking you guys seriously. Well, the N.L. West will never be the same...it's now all about 4 teams...not 3. And with the added experience the young guys have had this season, and even you with your first post season play, the Rox are going to be tough next year. And the team spirit and character that the Rox continue to demonstrate, can't be beat!

Todd, have a wonderful off season. I hope you will always remain a Rockie your entire career. You are certainly the face of this franchise, and a great role model for the kids.

Marti from SoCal

Todd and Rockies,
This might get a little long but my wife and I just want to share some of our greatest memories from this past season. Worth reading we feel, to keep peoples' spirits up through tonight and the next few days. First congratulations on making it to the BIG SHOW! I've been wanting it since I was 8 yrs old (yes that makes me 22 now). This couldn't happen to a greater group of ball-brothers! In no specific order:

Experience 1: Tulo's solo triple out against the Braves.

Experience 2: Hawpe's Grandslam against the D-Rays (our FIRST in-person grandslam EVER! also to note: it was the 2nd of a pair that same week for the ROX! ATKINS 2 days earlier)

Experience 3: DOUBLE HEADER TUESDAY!! You may remember a "small" day in Sept. when the Dodgers were in town and lost twice in one day.

Experience 3.5: My wife and I were headin' to Applebee's and were listening to the game on 850 KOA. We asked for the bar (while TODD was getting ready to bat, Holliday on first) we sat down and stood right back up!! WALK-OFF HOMERUN!!!

Experience 4: 'Last' game of the regular season. Being there front row, section 204, watching the Brewers increasing their lead via out of town scoreboard.

Exp. 4.5: WINNING THAT GAME AGAINST THE D-BACKS!

Exp. 5: WILD CARD TIEBREAKER! 13th INNING SPECTACULAR!!!

Exp. 6: YANKEE SWEEP!

Exp. 7: Met SWEEP!

Exp. 8: SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP! Padres, Dodgers(2 in a row), Giants, Pirates, Brewers, Nationals, Phillies, D-Backs

Exp. 9: Watching the Rockies battling through it all!

Exp. 10: 21 out of 22! WHAT A RUN!

Exp. 11: TODD HELTON #17 FIRST BASEMAN JUMPING LIKE A LITTLE KID @ Dodgers double-header WHR,Game 160, 161, NLDS SWEEPER, NLCS SWEEPER!

Exp. 12: Getting to the WORLD SERIES! FIRST TIME EVER!

Exp. 13: Believe this or not! We said it back in August of 2006. "We will get to the playoffs in '07 and possibly the World Series!" HOW RIGHT WE WERE!! Like I said, believe it or not!

Exp. 14: COMPLETING OUR 15th FULL SEASON as a 100% WIN OR LOSE ROCKIES FAN! BEEN HERE FROM THE BEGINNING!!

Exp. 15:(This will be it, I can go on forever, but will leave with this one). Getting the oppurtunity to go to at least one PLAYOFF game in this HISTORIC RUN! NLDS ROCKIES vs PHILLIES SWEEPER!!

We apologize for the length of our comment.

GO ROCKIES IN 2008! WE LOVE YOU, ALWAYS!!!!

And Todd, thanks for this blog. How fun has this been to read!!!

Todd....what a series! You guys have a great team! Although I am a Red Sox fan I have a tremendous amount of respect for the COLORADO ROCKIES! The ROCKIES had a great year and you have nothing to hang your heads about! I hope you have another chance to play in the WORLD SERIES AGAIN! If my team doesn't make it and yours does I will be rooting for you to win! If you make it again and you're playing Boston...well...good luck but I am a Red Sox fan. Have a good off-season! Enjoy being with your biggest fans.....your family!

Todd,

Congrats to you having a great post-season run. I'll be upfront, I'm a Boston Red Sox fan, but I'm a fan of the sport as well and since I was 6, have been watching it.

You and your team made it really interesting the last two nights, and as a fan, I loved it. Y'all played your hearts out and that 21 of 22 winning run you had was simply amazing.

So with all the respect in the world, congrats for the post-season run and congrats for winning that NL pennant, you deserved it.

Todd and the Rockies Team,
You made me enjoy baseball again. You guys played baseball the way it was supposed to be played...as a team. Every player knew his job and had fun doing it. You guys are amazing! I look forward to next season with great anticipation.

Enjoy your family time and thanks to all of you ...WHAT A RIDE!!!

Thanks for giving us something to be so proud of Todd. I, among many, am one of your team's new fans... and I don't take calling myself a fan of any team's lightly. I've been pulling for you guys a few years now, but wouldn't have called myself a true fan like I am now. Anyways, Thank You. I'm proud to be a fan of a team of such outstanding character. You and the boys have officially made your marks in baseball lore, non-officially on the hearts of millions. You have (on the national stage) defined the Colorado Rockies as a team of character, class, true grit, and all heart. Most of us (myself included)don't understand the incredible stamina that you guys exhibited during THE RUN of 21 W's in 22 games.... what unbelievable grit & grind. As much as we were all hoping for a WS championship, sometimes the biggest heart and all the grit in the world isn't enough. Sometimes breaks go the other way and you run out of time. Nevertheless, you guys should be overcome with pride (as the city is) for your incredible, amazing, courageous battle. What you guys accomplished is nothing short of amazing. Enjoy the time off with your family, you and all the boys truly deserve that. Hold those heads very, very high.... you're the new Colorado Rockies. We'll c ya next year buddy. Loud & PROUD Rox fan.

Hello Todd!
Whether you won the World Series or not, you made it there, congratulations! Thank you for a great season! Yesterday my 7 year old son decided he was going to be "Todd Helton" for Halloween this year...so off to church we went for our special Halloween mass, with him proudly wearing his official '07 World Series Helton Jersey, and his 'gotee' painted on his adorable little face..It's the little things like this that mean the most in life, Wish I could post his photo to make everyone stop and think and take time out to enjoy the simple things in life. Enjoy your #1 job, ...being a dad!

Regards to all...

You guys are astonishing. So much character and so much talent makes for fantastic baseball. I love to see the good guys win, and although you didn't win it all, you showed everyone what an underdog can do and surprised the world. I love you guys.

Enjoy your time off with your family and remember what an amazing run you guys had. I'll see you in April--I'll be cheering for both teams for the first time in my life when you come down here to Texas.

Rock on.

The Rockies didn't get much press out here in the Boston area prior to the World Series. I was very impressed with what a classy organization this is. Let's do this again next year! Regardless of what happens, I'll definitely be following the Rockies more closely next year. Enjoy the off-season.

Hey Todd...We all know that there has to be a winner and a loser, but in my humble opinion any team that gets to the World Series are both winners. I have been a Rockie Fan since '93, born and raised and still live in Colorado, as a teenager would say, duh, would I support any other team. Todd, tell Brad Hawpe he's just as good if not better than Larry Walker was in right field. Thanks to all of the players for a fun season....I had a feeling you guys would make it to the Series this year.....GO ROCKIES!!!!!!!!

Being a Red Sox fan I am of course happy as ot how it all played out. Being a fan of baseball I want to thank you for a wonderful series. Had me biting my nails there for a minute. Your team is young and very talented, I'm sure ya'll be burning the NL West up this comming 2008 BB year. Hope you have a great off season and a geat spring training. Again thanks for a great post season.

Another Red Sox fan here to say that I've been impressed by your leadership and class. Your team had an incredible run the last couple of months and it shows what a talented ball club the Rockies are. We were certainly disappointed that you did not move to Boston early in the year, but all things happen for a reason and I'm sure you are meant to be there to lead your team to further greatness. Good luck in the future.

To Todd and the rest of Rox nation,

As a Red Sox fan I want to say no other team we faced gave me shivers like you all did. Your incredible comeback power, feilding prowess and out right sense of nobility. The Rox fans are the greatest too, at no time did they fail no matter how far behind in the count or score they roared at every strike by your pitchers every shot through the hole until the very last pitch. No doubt Rox nation deserves a championship as all champions do. My sincerest wish is for you to have all the success in the world next year and maybe we will meet again! Have a great off season.

You guys were awesome and stunning last night as you have been all season. You all have such grace and elegance. Enjoy being a dad and we'll see you Spring 2008! Congratulations on your great performance!

GO ROCKIES!!! I have to say it was an honor watching you guys this year! I am so proud of you. Thank you for making the post season so much fun. I can't wait until next year! Thanks for the memories!!!
Katy

Congrats Todd and the Sox and Rox,

All were class acts this postseason.

Unlike b.gwer@comcast.net, while I didn't get tickets (and really tried), I'm not bitter about the internet sales. Seems some people just can't acknowledge that it was just as good as the lottery - you either got tickets or you didn't. Whether or not one was able to get tickets, the Colorado Rockies have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with in future years and that we will be back for post season play, more quickly this time around. And, Todd, if you read the comments posted here (and I believe you may do that after you've had a rest), the Rockies have more faithful fans than ever before. We'll be expecting you and the team to make the World Series again before you hang up your glove and cleats. We'll be expecting Tulowitski to show good things over and above what he has in his rookie year. We'll be expecting Fuentes to become the pitcher we all know he can be and we'll be expecting Hurdle to be there too. To all those who think Hurdle is a bad coach --- remember -- the team would not have gotten to this point - to the World Series - if he were a bad coach. The team wouldn't have made it to post season play without his coaching abilities. Every coach makes some mistakes and, yes, there were possibly a few, but they pale in comparison to what the team has accomplished as a whole. Hurdle is part of that team. It's not a bunch of individuals thrown together all doing their own thing. The team has earned and deserves the support of every person that can call themself a Rockies Fan. We're part of the team too and if we're not supporting the actual players on the field, then we're not doing our part. Anyone who puts down a single player and thinks he/she is a fan in the process is not truly a fan. They're just a person who can't get through life without griping about something. So, all of us who truly are fans - let's support this team and show them that we are the Rockies Nation!

Veteran are what gave you freedom
Red Sox! HELP 10-29-07

To President Bush, NH governor Lynch, editors, Levenston and Dr Dan Potenza

Written by Peter Macdonald 465 Packersfalls rd Lee NH 03824 603-659-6217

The Red Sox last night won the World Series. The reason this game is even played is because young children give their lives and as a reward they become the unrecognized elite called VETERANS. I am going to ask that the Red Sox take a moment of their time to help a veteran in need. I do not want your money, your title. What I would like is a moment of your time to tell the people of the United States about veterans and what we are. We were the children that protected and defended this nations freedom so individuals could become baseball stars, Drs, Lawyers or anything else.

I came back from my 31 month overseas tour during the Vietnam Conflict 100% permanently disabled. I was injured three times, twice in separate combat support missions. I as an American Advisor did eight convoys to deliver surplus supplies to remote friendly camps in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. Thirty something years after I returned the VA diagnosed me with PTSD because every day since my return in 1974, I relive my first kill in daily flashbacks. I have a head injury, broken back, loss of hearing in both ears and now PTSD. I gave as all other veterans did, now I ask for your help.

I have volunteered everyday to help others since 1974. I ask nothing and want nothing in return. I volunteer because I came back alive. I owe the Veterans Past, Present and future not to let what we gave our lives for to be diminished. “Our Constitution” In 1999 a family from Madbury NH were so desperate they called me because of something I said in a letter to the editor. The Madbury NH selectmen were using government powers to force families that the selectmen did not like out of Madbury. Does this sound like **** Germany. I volunteer to help this family. The selectmen state in public and do not deny the facts under oath to these crimes. A NH judge Peter Fauver violates the Constitution to protect these selectmen. The NH supreme court refuses to hear the case. (2003-0477). The Governor uses the State Police to harass my family at work and home. I am arrested as a terrorist under the “Patriot Act” and lose my freedom for 6 months before the charges are dropped. U.S. Congresswoman Shea-Porter files false police complaints to get me arrested. (detained). The Dover and Lee NH police refuse to allow me to file a complaint against her. She then uses a VA Dr to file commitment orders with out merit to take my freedom. Next the director of the NH VA medical care Mark Levenston stops my VA medical for injuries received in the line of duty. The courts and government have violated the Constitution to intentionally harm a 100% disabled United States Marine. The newspapers censor the facts. I can document everything that I say because I got copies of the paper work.

What I would like is for you to publicly ask “What is happening to a disabled United States Marine in Lee NH. May be then the newspapers and media will tell the entire United States what we gave our lives for is equal protection of the law for every individual even one nobody disabled United States Marine.

I thank you for your help

Peter Macdonald Sgt USMC Semper Fi

It's not the destination but the journey...sounds a bit hollow right now but what a ride we had this season. The Rockies are awesome. You and your teammates gave us something this year that we have never had before. An NL championship and a glimpse into the World Series. And that in itself is an accomplishment. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

it isn't if you win or lose, it's how the game is played. and you mustn't lose sight of the fact that you DID get to play in the WORLD SERIES! how many others can say that? you've shown a lot of character throughout the seasons, which is yet another reason why the rockies are my favorite team. God bless you and your family, Todd. ^i^

omg... this was the sweetest thing that i have ever seen. last night i saw todd on the news when they interviewed him. it was so sad to watch. i love todd helton, he is like my favorite player of all time. and i think that it is the cutest thing that he just wanted to be a father and not think about that. I LOVE YOU TODD! he's the best.

Thanks for a great season!!!! You guys had an outstanding season, GO ROCKIES 2008!!!!!!

Hey Mr. Helton, just wanted to say thanks as a Rockie fan since the very berth of the team back in 1993. I was in 7th grade back then and I have seen the good bad and ugly the Rockies have gone through. You guys made baseball a lot fun this year and the playoff run you guys had was simply UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Don't take this the wrong way but It would have been crazy for me to think that you guys would of made the playoffs let alone the world series a month and half ago. Instead what the Rockies did is a perfect example of what makes sports so fun! Thank you again Mr. Helton! It was a blast!

Todd,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this great run through your blog. You made it to the World Series and put it all into perspective for us fans. We are all so very proud of you and the Rockies.

We all wish the ending was different and celebrations were happening in LoDo, however tomorrow is a new day, a new season. Go enjoy being a dad, husband, brother, son and friend. Maybe even get a little hunting in too. You deserve it!!!

Thanks again Todd!!!

What a great season. Over the past ten years I had become removed from watching the game because of contract disputes, strikes steroids, free agency, and poor ownership not just with the Rockies but with baseball in general. I became tired of watching players providing half effort or less.

This year was diiferent. I was drug back to the game by the grit, determination, work ethic and the different aproach of Clint, yourself and the rest of he time.

I must admit in early september I put the numbers on paper and determined that if L.A. and San Diego played .500 ball we had to win out. I remember going around work talking about how the Rockies didn't have a chance. Night after night against all odds you guys keep reaching inside yourselves for a little more and found it. The last two months have restored my faith in the game. The game is bigger than any player, owner, commisioner or fan. There is no other sport that could provide the thrill that baseball provides. When Seth Smith was down to his last strike I thought about how many times all of you came back. I was sure he would get a hit and continue the season. When the ball sailed into his glove I felt sad not because of the loss but because an end had come to such a dynamic sports story.

I hope the example that you and your team set will be seen by other teams as a way to restore baseball to the majestic level it once held as the great american past time.

Thanks again for all your hard work, devotion to the game , and above all the example you set within our community.

Go Rockies.

Todd,
Regardless of the outcome your team has put together one of the best stories in baseball, I know my kids will always remember and be proud of what you all accomplished and that they are fans of this team. As you get a little more time away from last night, I hope you all, to a man, take away the fact that you CAN compete at this level, and the lessons of the last week so that WHEN you are at this place again you will know that YOUR moment has arrived. The Rox will only get better from here!

There's nothing to say, but THANK YOU and your teammates for a wonderful season. I have never been excited for the next season this early. Todd Helton, you made every Rockies fan very proud!

Todd,
As a Rockies fan since '93 I knew you had a good team this year. Going into this season I knew you would play above .500 and would likely compete, but I thought that the next 3-4 years the Rockies would be dominant. I was right---and wrong. Anyone who followed the Rockies knew they were in every game this year, even when you were 8 games under .500. Aside from the first game of the series where the 8 game lay-off showed some rust, the Rockies competed and were in every game. A couple of "inches" in either of the last three games and the outcome would be different. The great thing is that the Rockies have a fantastic lineup that should remain mostly together for the next several years (and a strong farm system). Next year will be tougher because expectations will be higher---but I believe you will be the best in National League again and better than the best in the American League. God bless! Thanks for wonderful example you have all set!

Ron in Rapid City, South Dakota

Todd,
Enjoy the fall-winter break and being a dad! The only down-side of being successful means working a little more. Have fun!

Ron

Thank you Rockies! I had a blast and am looking forward to next season.

What a classy organization and what an awesome ride!

Thanks!

Wow! Thank you Todd Helton, Clint Hurdle and the whole Colorado Rockies team. You all made this year the most fun and exciting baseball season ever! Thank you too for being such a great inspiration in every way for my 8 year old and so many others.
Rock on!!

Todd,
You have much to be proud of, and you've given us fans much to be proud of. While we all would've loved to see the Rockies take the World Series, you made it that far and that's an accomplishment in itself. You're still the 2007 National League Champs and NO ONE can ever take that away! Attending Game 3 was one of the most exciting things in my life and something I will never forget. I love my Rockies and am already looking forward to Spring. You guys played great, you have an amazing record, you're champs in the eyes and hearts of all the fans, and we love you. Enjoy your time with your family. Next year is going to be mind-boggling.

Todd Helton is a class act. Congrats and thanks for letting us in the American League discover the amazing Colorado Rockies and their fans.

Matt Holliday is a superstar and with all that young talent, the Rockies should contend for years to come.

Todd,

Thank you, for the remarkable year that you and your teammates gave us fans.

We love you all. How fantastic to bring the WS to Colorado. And what great role models you are for our children. My son cried for you all last night - he was worried about your feelings. You are an incredible team, on and off the field. We are proud to be Colorado Rockies supporters. You couldn't be loved more...World Series or not!

Mr. Helton:

I just want to say thanks for the great year. I'm proud to say that I've been a fan of the Rockies since 1993, and of your's since '96. Thanks again, and I hope next year is better than ever!

Todd,
Please tell all the other guys, and Clint Hurdle too, that we're proud of all of you. You are the National League Champions, and it was a tremendous amount of fun watching you get there. Thanks so much for that! Now, go home and be a dad. Enjoy the off-season, and we'll see you in the spring.

Your fans in Kremmling

Hi Todd,

The first time my dad took me to a baseball game was in 1993. I was 9 years old and watching the Rockies' inaugural season. Since then, I've moved from Colorado to New York but have remained a loyal supporter. Whenever I head back, my dad always buys tickets to a game, no matter how long I'm visiting.

This season was incredible, I kept thinking it's October and we're still in this! I realize the final loss was hard, but you've made me more than proud to wear my Colorado Rockies shirt around the city. You and the entire Rockies team are a great group of guys, thank you so much for this incredible season. See you next spring,

Your fans in New York

I am from Boston..obviously a Red Sox fan..but I wanted to congratulate the Colorado Rockies on a wonderful season and for being the classy, hard working, human beings they showed the rest of the world..You didn't win because of lack of effort or lack of heart..it's not like you didn't want to win the World Series..but the Rockies did show alot of heart and class and thank you for being the competitors you are. Congrats on your National League pennant and you guys have alot of talent over there..I won't be surprised to keep seeing you in future post seasons..It's also such a beautiful scenic place where you guys play..it was nice to see that part of the country on national television that's hardly shown..

Thank you Todd Helton and the Rockies baseball team. Win or lose, I will always be a Rockies fan!! I live in Knoxville TN and wear purple proudly! GO ROCKIES!!!

i am a diehard cleveland indians fan and i just wanted to say congratulations on a great season. i was rooting for you guys all the way these past 4 games especially after what the sox did to us in the ALCS. have fun this off season with your family and good luck in 08. hopefully the cards will unfold the right way this time and you guys will face the tribe in the world series next year!!

Todd -
WHAT A SEASON! It was heartbreaking to watch the Red Sox celebrate last night, but what a great run the Rockies had this season. I have been a fan since the beginning and I LOVE you and the Rockies. GREAT JOB!! I am already looking forward to the 2008 season! Hold your heads high, you guys all have SO much to be pround of!

Thanks for the unbelievable season and the historic 21-1 run, it was a privilege to see all happen and take the city by a big purple storm.
Tell all the guys thanks for a great season!

Todd-
My family and I would like to thank you and all of the Rockies team for the incredible and unforgettable season. My 9 year old son, Nate, a little leaguer himself, has learned so much not only about baseball but as well as good character from watching this team. My 5 year old daughter has her first crush on you (she says it is because you look like her daddy). My husband and I have had so much fun watching not only the baseball but watching our kids and the thrills that the Rockies brought to all of us...Enjoy the much deserved time off with your family and we can't wait to see all of you back on the field next spring!

Todd and all of the Rockies,
Thank you for a wonderful and exciting season! We are SO proud of all of you and proud to be Rockies fans!! Just think, WE were in the World Series-how cool is that? May God continue to bless all of you! See you next spring!! We love you!

Thank you for an incredible and historic season. We're proud to be a part of it. My 8 year old daughter started crying on the way home after the game last night....not because of the outcome....but because she would have to wait all the way until Spring to see her favorite ball club! Have a great off season, and thanks for reminding us all to NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Have a great off season!

Todd, thank YOU for giving the Rockies fans something to be so proud of, and so excited for. Thank you for your love of the game. Thank you for sticking with the Rox when you could have headed for greener pastures.

Todd,
I watched and really pulled for you guys after my Yankees were eliminated and I just want to say congratulations on the incredible run you guys made. The Rockies have a bright future ahead of them and a big reason is because of the class and experience that you bring to the team and have instilled in younger players. Now you go be a dad for the winter and get back at it like you always have done when Spring Training rolls around.

Todd,
Thank you so much for the season. Thank you for sticking it out all these years. I have been a fan since day 1 and will continue to support the Colorado Rockies. You are NL CHAMPS! Enjoy your time off and you in the spring!!!!!!

Todd,

Congrats on an amazing season! What a thrill to be a Rockies fan in 2007! What a historic and amazing ride to the World Series! Even though the Series went to the Red Soxs, all of us in Colorado are so incredibly proud of our baseball team! Thank you Todd for always displaying class and true sportsmanship! Can't wait for 2008!

Todd, thanks for being a champion and thanks for pushing through some tough times as a Rockie to bring us a World Series team. You and your teammates have brought so much excitement and joy to Colorado and you are right to be very, very proud of what the team has accomplished. You guys left it ALL out on Coors Field and all of Rockies nation is so proud of that!

Thanks Todd and pass on my thanks to all of the other Rockies. I couldn't be prouder or happier for my team than I have been for the past month or so. You guys have just been AWESOME!! While it didn't ultimately end as well as it could have, now you guys know for sure you're good enough to be World Series Champions and will still have the talent to get it done next year. I can hardly wait to see you guys start playing next year.

Todd and All the Other Guys!!! Others say it so well, and I just want to reiterate - you guys are amazing and wonderful and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the spirit and passion you brought to your team and your fans this season, for giving your fans the excitement of the post-season, and for being our idols and our buds! We love you and look forward to seeing you all very soon - and in the meantime, enjoy being a dad :+) It has been great!

GO ROCKIES!

Thanks to the entire team for an incredible season. I HATED the 8 day layoff! You guys are Champions and a class act 100%! I'm proud to be a Rockies fan today more than ever!

GO ROCKIES 2008!

I really don't have anything to add. The comment above from the Boston Fan says it all in my opinion. The whole Team is great and you have really shown your class in how you loose. As you say, you need to be a gracious looser as well.

Thanks for the memories and given me a chance to go to my first ever World Series game!

Todd,
To you and the rest of the WONDERFUL ROCKIES a VERY BIG THANK YOU! It's been a great ride! It broke my heart last night to watch you guys watching the Red Sox celebrate but again you all did it with great class! I truly hope that you and the rest of the guys realize how very, very proud your fans are of you and the entire team! Thank you for giving our children a team that they can admire and athletes that are the best bunch of guys I've ever seen play this game! Thank you for this blog, getting to read your thoughts through this fantastic season. Enjoy your time off with your family and I'm really looking forward to seeing you guys play next season! When I'm out to visit my sister I'll be coming to a game or two! CONGRATULATIONS on being the National League Champions in 2007 and here's to a GREAT 2008! ROCKIES RULE! From Oregon, thanks for everything, Petite

p.s. Thank you also to the classy Red Sox fans who have posted their comments and realize that the ROCKIES are an AWESOME team!

#17~

Now that all of the emotion is slowly draining out, I want to say Thank-you. Not for getting the Rockies to the WS, but for such a very classy team. The Colorado Rockies is a team in which I am proud to have my children grow up watching. My 3-year-old daughter walks around shouting "GO ROCKIES" and "Get out of here Baby!". It's very fun to finally have a team whose players display their character first. For example, after watching the postgame last night I was disappointed in the way Ortiz acted in the locker room. Congratulations on winning, but where's the class there?

Rockies, you all have something to be very proud of, besides getting to the WS, you finally give our children actual professional sports players that they can look up to!

May God bless you all and your families as you enjoy the off-season and reflect back on your GREAT accomplishments!

It's only a matter of months before Hollywood comes out with a movie "The Great Turnaround"

GO ROCKIES!!!

Congratulations to the entire Colorado Rockies team on a spectacular season! The way this team plays the game with passion and joy is so refreshing. And even though you aren't the WS champs, you are still winners in my eyes. The entire team has shown so much class and dignity. Thank you for being such great role models for our children! I am looking forward to next season!

Thank you Todd and the entire Rockies staff for the most exhilarating, exciting, exhausting four weeks of baseball we have ever experienced! What a ride! You have fed our imaginations, fueled our passion and ignited our anticipation for next season.

THANK YOU!

God Bless each and every one of you. See you again next year!

Hey Todd;

Like so many other comments posted here today, I want to say thanks for such a wonderful, memorable season and post season. I was never even a baseball fan until this year. BUT I cannot wait until next season to start a new seasson with the Rockies. I am just very sad that you all will not be together as a team again next year; it is so obvious to see that you are a close knit group. That must be hard for each of you as well. Even though you did not win the Big one, I am still so proud of you as a team. Please tell Clint and the rest of theam how proud we are of you despite this final loss.

Here's to a relaxing off-season for you and your family and we will see you this Spring.

GO ROCKIES!!!

Michelle Kukral

Todd,
We moved here from California last year, and instantly became Rockies fans. Thank you and your teammates for being classy winners, the kind of athletes I want my kids to watch. We're proud of you.

Great post. I'm so happy for you guys. I can't help but wish for more (who doesn't), but it was still amazing. I can't wait for Spring.
GO ROCKIES!

Todd,
The highlight of this historic run was getting to watch you play in the World Series. Much deserved and long overdue. Thanks for showing us just how magical this great game can be, I think some of us forgot.

GO ROX!

What an amazing experience for us to watch you all these past weeks. Our three boys would wake up in the mornings asking if the Rockies had won. You and your teamates are wonderful role models for portraying class and determination, both in winning and losing. We were loyal fans before this amazing stretch and look forward to next season. Thanks for a great ride and enjoy being home with your daughter.

Todd,

You and the entire Rockies team have made us all so proud!! Not just by winning the NL championship, but by how you played the game... true class and integrity, true sportsmanship, wonderful memories, and a season that will never be forgotten!

Your dedication and passion for the game has been a real inspiration. My 13-year old son, who absolutely lives to play hockey, now can't go a day without wearing his Rockies hat and hitting baseballs after school.

This Colorado native thanks you for a wonderful season, one we'll never forget! You all should be proud, because you've certainly made us proud!

GO ROCKIES!!!

Todd and fellas,'
I was an original season ticket holder in '93 been through a lot with you guys over the past years. This year made it all worth while. It is so nice when loyality is rewarded, not only with wins, but top notch classy guys that know how to play as a team. I have one picture of a baseball player in my office at home. He used to be a back-up quarterback to some guy named Manning. Now, that back-up quarterback leads a classy team. You are a role model, you are a father, and yes, you are a great baseball player. You are a great man.

Thanks for the great season and for doing so well. Win or lose, we're proud of you!

Dear Todd:
First, I'm so glad you stayed with the Rockies. Had you gone to the Red Sox, you would be wearing a World Championship ring right now--but without you, we'd never have gotten there.

I waited for years for Denver to get a team. I couldn't go to many games but I have tapes of most of the televised games the first year and attended what games I could at Mile High and then Coors.

To have a world series come to Denver--wow! It's been a dream for so long and I had given up on living to see it. But you guys gave us that and so much more. You gave us the kind of year many of us have dreamed about for 25 years and more. Thank you. And may you have an even better year next year. You are the heart of our team. And are dear to so many hearts.

Have a great winter and we all look forward to next February. Again, thanks for the ride of a lifetime.

Todd
Thank you and the whole Rockies team for such an EXCITING season! I have been a Rockies fan since day one, after waiting YEARS for Major League baseball to come to Colorado. This was so much fun! You are an incredible team. Not only talented, fun to watch, but also great role models for kids to look up to.

This last month has turned my 10 year old daughter in to a huge Rockies fan. Now, when I am sitting in front of the tv, yelling and cheering, instead of looking at me like I am insane and saying "Mom, you know they can't actually HEAR you, right?", she is sitting there cheering with me!

Congratulations to the 2007 NL CHAMPS!! You are all champions in our eyes! Have a great off-season, enjoy that beautiful little girl, and then, BRING ON 2008!!

And Thank You, to all the classy Boston fans posting nice messages today. You are true fans of baseball.

Thanks to the whole Rockies' team for the wonderful season. It's been splendid, and we fans are so proud of you. It's always sad when the Series ends, since it means there's no baseball for a while, but each Spring is a new beginning. We'll be right back with you from day one (which is, according to my calculations, roughly 154 days away--not that I'm counting or anything). Thanks again and have a great winter.

Todd (and the rest of the Rockies)....

Thank you for this spectacular year and post-season. This has been an incredible ride and this year is one that I'll remember forever. The Rockies are the National League Champions! That is just awesome. Next year, I'm sure the Rockies will be a force and will give the rest of the league a run for their money. But you are right...go and enjoy being a dad because there are atheletes, stars, celebrities who are recognized for their accomplishments. But the real accomplishment in life is being a good parent. Enjoy this winter and we will see you all again in the Spring.

Thanks for everything,

Sherie

Hey Fellas,

I cannot stop crying. I am so happy and beaming with pride that I am a Rockies fan and have been one since 1993.

I've known since the end of last year that you all were going to make a big impact on the game this season. Thank you so much for playing ball the way it should be. Thank you for bringing the NL title to Colorado. And thank you for being a class act. You all have shown true sportsmanship and what it means to be a T-E-A-M.

I can't wait to see what you all do next year.

Enjoy your family and have a great Christmas.

Blessings,

K. Sto.

Hey there,

So far this season, I have smiled from the wins, and cried at the losses, but let me tell ya, you know you're a fan when you cry just 'cause your team made it to the world series. I am very proud to be a Coloradian right now.

I know next season, may not be this amazing, but it will be good.

Thank you for everything you guys have done.

Thank you Rockies for a great year! Watching my husband, being so excited about the World Series was a beautiful thing. It is a year he will always remember. You guys have so much class, a work ethic that all of us could learn from. You guys never gave up and we wouldn't expect anything less from this team!

See you next year...enjoy your time off!!!

Todd (and all the other Rockies),

Thank you so much for allowing us to watch this great ride. I am going through some personal tough times right now, and the Rockies became the bright spot in my life and gave me something to look forward to. It was tough to watch the WS loss, but nothing can outshine everything else that you and the rest of the Rockies accomplished. Like someone else said, I am proud to a say I am a native Coloradan and proud to have shed both tears of joy as well as sadness. Thank you for a job well done and I look forward to next season. GO ROCKIES!!!

Todd and Rockies Fans,

I am a CO native living in New England with a Rockies flag flying proud outside my house today. One of my Sox fan neighbors barked at me this morning to "take the flag down now...."

I don't think that will be happening any time soon.

Difference is that I truly appreciate the biggest baseball surprise of my life this year and what we all just saw happen in Denver with the Rockies will permanently change the baseball landscape of that Rocky Mountain Region for years to come.

Todd, your legacy is intact.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

See you next year (on satellite TV again !)

Brian in Rhode Island

Dear Todd and the Rockies:
I know how I feel today (totally wiped out) so I can only imagine how you all feel, but you had an amazing, incredible run and gave us all the thrill of our lives as baseball fans. The Wild Card Play-In game was the most fun I can ever remember having as a life-long fan of The Game. I feel like I have done nothing since except watch baseball and root for you guys ever since. I have been waking up every morning and thinking about baseball. It really is like time stood still for the past month, and nothing else mattered. When I woke up this morning and realized it was all over, I almost couldn't get out of bed. But then I started thinking about next year, and I know you guys will be right back in it again, from Opening Day on. I can't wait for April! Have a great winter, you deserve it. See you next spring!

Thanks for an unforgettable Rocktober!

Suanne

To The Colorado Rockies (2007): Every single one of you guys are my heroes! Congratulations on this terrific season! Thanks for letting us fans witness some of the most wonderful plays in baseball history! I will forever love you guys! See in 17 week, in Arizona! I'll be there cheering you guys on!

To all Rockies Fans,

AS a ember of RSN I would like to congratulate Todd and all the Rockies for showing amazing class during the series. You Cheered like champs and your players played like champs. This 'most lopsided' victory will not reflect the great things I saw from great ball players and great fans. I am very happy we won, but to you all I wish you the best in the future and if we are not in the Series I will be rooting for you because you are an example of how to do things right in baseball. Thank you for hosting us. Don't worry about the pain of losing. It will someday turn into a great joy, so stick with your Rox!

Andres Macchiavello

From a Wyoming Rockies fan... you guys are the best!

Thanks for the great memories and something to look forward to in the spring...

GO ROCKIES!!

Todd,
Prior to this month I was a football junkie college kid who didn't give a care or hoot about baseball in this grand state. Wasn't worth it to be honest. Not anymore!

What you guys did this past month was amazing beyond words. I would be lying to say I am not a Rockies fan now! I never thought that I'd end up liking baseball. But here I am, unable to stop reliving the excitement of this past month.

You are #1 in my book. I can not wait until next season. Look for me in the stands, I'll be there cheering ya'll on to another World Series appearance (and win)!

Thank you for one amazing Rocktober!!

God bless ~ Emily

Todd, You are awesome and I have enjoyed watching you play through the years. Your loyalty to the Rockies is unlike any other players makes to their team. Thanks for leading the team to the World Series, it was AWESOME!!! Phil

Todd,

Colorado loves you man! Just remember, this is the beginning. This run that we have witnessed, will be talked about for all time. This run to the pennant, will be something that will be remembered as one of the greatest accomplishments in the history of the game. We will back to the world series, many times. The sun has set on our 2007 season, but the 2008 sunrise is almost here, and is brighter for us than anything we can imagine. Keep your hopes up over the winter, and March will be here sooner than we think.

As a Red Sox fan for over 50 years, I can identify very well with what Rockies' fans are experiencing right now. I have been through it many times. The good news is that baseball springs eternal and there is always next year and Rockies' fans have a young and talented team to be excited about.

It's funny to post on the blog of a player who was probably close to playing for the Sox this year. I'm glad it didn't work out, not because Todd Helton isn't a fine player, but because he belongs in Colorado, and to the Rockies' fans. I grew up in the era of Yaz, Jim Rice, Dwight Evans and others who spent their entire careers in Boston. They are icons in our culture as I'm sure Todd Helton is becoming in yours.

It doesn't feel good to lose, but the Rockies had a truly amazing year, and next year could be better. Congratulations to the Rockies on their great year.

Todd,

You're proud to be a Rockie (doesn't that look weird without the "s" on the end?) and I'm proud to be a fan. Today I faced many a Red Sox fan
